TRACY OWEN - CGC EVALUATOR, CSDT-P4H
Tracy started training dogs in 2011 with the Paws in Prison program. Before being paroled to Carrie Kessler with "Last Chance Arkansas" dog rescue, offered Tracy a position, she paroled out there August 2016.
On 8/26/2016 she got her 1st dog for training, a golden doodle and that started her new business "Dogsamust" and started training professionally with well over a hundred clients.
She was one of the very first trainers chosen for the Paws in Prison program in 2011-2014 while an inmate at the Hawkins Women's Unit.
Then 2014-2016 she went to Sheridan, AR on a work release program to the dog pound located at the Sheriff's Department which was a kill pound at the time. Upon her arrival she immediately started to turn the unit around. In her 2 years there she found forever homes for over 360 dogs ending the need for euthanizing dogs every month. Not one dog was euthanized after she got there!
She has trained service dogs for seizure alert, diabetic alert, PTSD, educational assistance dogs, children's facility assistance dog, stability/wheelchair assistance dogs, service dogs to assist with Autism and water leak detection dogs with public education assistance dog certification.
She uses positive reinforcement training and help dogs make the right choices with positive encouragement never fear base training. She wants dogs to work for her because they love her not because they fear her!
Her business has grown from references and word of mouth. She has been certified through Paws 4 Hope as a service and public access trainer with over 5,000 hours, also a canine good citizen evaluator.
She has started a new chapter in her life, coming full circle to train inmates through the Paws in Prison program. Currently she trains at the Hawkins Women's Unit, the Randall L Williams Men's Unit, Tucker Max, McPherson Women's Unit in Newport and Quachita River Malvern Unit, hopefully to give them all the passion that she received as an inmate and found her calling in life.
Recently she has hired a parolee that she trained while he was an inmate to help with her business, he was the best trainer she had and has found his passion also.
Her latest endeavor includes training water leak detection dogs. She has trained the first in the nation water leak detection dog "Vessel " and looking towards training a lot more!
Update: Since Vessel she has trained Gauge for Rye Engineering in Erin, TN and Charlie for Aqua Water Supply Corporation in Bastrop, TX
